Special Interest Paediatrics & Scoliosis

Pilates Practitioner

I completed my Physiotherapy degree at Curtin University in 1998, and spent the first twelve years of my career working in paediatrics, primarily at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, where I specialised in acute care in the areas of Orthopaedics, Burns and Plastics, Hands, Amputee Rehabilitation, Oncology and Respiratory.  As the Acting Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Burns and Plastics, I was involved in the disaster management of the 2002 Bali Bombings.  I then spent three years as the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Orthopaedics managing both inpatient and outpatient care.  During this time I was seconded to Notre Dame University to help develop and lecture the paediatric modules for the undergraduate course.  I am very experienced in physiotherapy education, having provided years of student supervision for both Notre Dame University and Curtin University.

As a mum of identical twins born prematurely, I have also navigated the journey as a parent seeking services and support to meet my family's needs.  Many of my physiotherapy skills have been nourished by my daughters' journeys through their developmental needs and many diagnoses.  I know and have lived first-hand with the struggles and stress of finding the right specialist services and will be your strongest advocate and motivator when it comes to best practice care for your child.

I also have experience in private practice as a pilates practitioner and enthusiast, providing physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation services to adults, adolescents and children while working at Karrinyup Physio.  I have always been passionate about encouraging my clients to feel confident to move well, and found this experience incredibly rewarding to see people grow and heal, and feel empowered by their experience.

Following my own efforts to seek evidence-based physiotherapy services for the management of my daughters' scoliosis, not accepting that the 'watch and see' approach was all that could be done, I commenced working at Perth Scoliosis Clinic in 2021.  I remain incredibly passionate about ensuring that every child with scoliosis and their family has access to world standard evidence-based physiotherapy intervention in a timely manner.

At home, I love spending time with my family and my dog, baking and cooking, enjoying pilates, and tending to my many (many) indoor plants.
